Have to Share

I have sooooo many things I need to get caught up on for you guys, but I am so busy with school that it isn't going to happen...I do have to share this one quick thing...

Tonight Jordan went and dug out a t-shirt from his pj drawer that was too small. I told him to throw it away and his response was...
Jo: "Mom, when we have a baby, they might want to wear it."
Mom: "If we have a baby, we can buy it new clothes."
Jo: "Not if, we will have a baby one day."
Mom: "Why do you say that?"
Jo: "Everyone has a baby one day!"
Mom: "I already had a baby one day."
Jo: "Another baby...Everyone has more than one baby."

Then 30 minutes later when I put him to bed, as I left his room he says "Mommy, I really want to have a brother."

I really need to hurry up and get finished with school...my boy wants a baby! HeHe. I just thought it was so funny how he kept saying when WE have a baby.

Kids are funny!

And the Winner Is...

I could not bring myself to draw from the names that entered in my give away, so I let Jordan! Nothing like letting a five year old give away money!

It really is a great way to spruce up your decor! I have several already and intend to get more!!

Here is my latest from her catalog of ideas:
I fully intended for this to go on the wall above my bed, but when I held it up infront of the bed to center it, i loved it on the black headboard! Jeff might think I'm crazy!
This is in Jordan's bedroom:

My kitchen is decorated in coffee, I love this one!:

Another great thing about vinyl is you can use it for anything! As well as personalize anything!

I gave this as a wedding gift last year. It is a three tone vinyl design with a monogram "B" in cream behind the "forever and for always, no matter what" in brown, along with wedding rings in silver.

The Joy of Boys!-The Journey Home.

We took a mini vacation this past week to surprise my dad's parents for their 50th anniversary. I will blog more about that once I get my pictures put on the computer! I just wanted to share our "oh so fun" trip home yesterday.
It is about a 12 hour drive from Des Moines to Wylie, which is where we needed to pick up the dog and drop off my sister. We left fairly eary but not too early and then stopped at Micky D's to get some breakfast and the HyVee so I could finially buy a hawkeyes shirt, so that got us a little bit of a later start. Still not too bad. We make it out of Iowa just fine and coming through Kansas we are watching the lightening ahead. Yep, we are heading right into the storm! Ok, a little rain never hurt, we will just have to slow down a bit. A LITTLE RAIN?! NO! It was insane! It was raining so hard you couldn't see out the front or the passenger side, semi trucks and other cars were pulled over under ever bridge we passed...we continued to drive. Then Jo decided he needs to pee...we are all encouraging him to "wait", "hold it just a little longer until we find an exit"! At this point we are driving 20 mph and still can't see. The poor boy is shaking he has to go so badly and of course, I'm sure the rain isn't helping! Jeff pulls the car over and informs Jordan and me that I will be taking him to pee on the side of the road! In this crazy storm! Remember when I said you couldn't see out the passenger window... the wind was blowing so hard it felt like the car was going to tip. Jo freaks out, much like I did when I found out! So Jeff finds a Sprite bottle that is half full (or half empty...it's up to you). He rolls his window down to empty the bottle and tells Jo to "pee in the bottle". Well, as you can imagine, he thinks that is hilarious! Picture it...he is standing in the front seat with me, pants to his knees, bottle in hand and mom is hold a towel under "just in case". He actually does it! He peed in a bottle for the first time in his life! Is that a milestone that mom's want to remember? (I'm sure there will be many more to come as he gets older and starts having his own road trips.) Any who, I think we are home free...until...HE DROPS THE BOTTLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yep, you read that right, he dropped the bottle! I guess he thought I had it, I thought he had it; when really neither of us had it! Ok, remember now, we are in the middle of no where with a crazy storm. Luckily I had the towel and that was my way of cleaning it until we could continue on our drive. Jeff tried to drive a little more to get us to a store and throw out the floor mat but that was not happening, we had to pull over yet again. This time we searched the sky for Dorthy and Toto. I was trying so hard not to let the kids in the back know I was scared out of my mind that we were going to blow away! Jeff couldn't take it anymore and decided to drive some more. I think we went 20 mph or less all the way out of the storm. Finally we found a Wal-Mart and were able to throw out the towel and floor mat and buy some carpet cleaner, deoderizor! We hit a couple more storms on the way, but nothing like the first one!
We finally made it to Wylie at about 10:45 last night.

Funny Boy

For those of you who haven't heard about our plumbing issue yet, I need to give you the background story about that before I can tell you how funny Jo is. Early this week Jeff was showering and the drain started backing up. He tried fixing it many ways that night, Draino helped but the toilets still weren't flushing right. Thursday Jeff's dad came over and snaked the drain. Jeff was standing in the yard and kept hearing this "dink" "dink" "dink". If finally dawned on him what the sound was...

Another flashback here...Our trees decided to die on us this year and the dreaded Home Owners Association told us it was city ordinance that we have 2 trees in our front yard and if we didn't we would get fined each time they came out. So we got the trees dug up (thanks to Jeff's brother) and planted new ones. They were on sale! That made me happy! After Jeff got the trees planted he ran to the hardware store to get stakes so the new trees wouldn't blow away, the Royse City hardware store only had metal stakes...
--Is it clicking for anyone yet? YEP! The "dink" sound was the stake! Jeff drove the stake through our sewage drain!

So on to the story. Jeff thinks he found a way to repair the drain without replacing the whole thing and digging the yard up! He was out there working on it last night, laying face down in this nasty sewage whole with Jordan standing over his shoulder the whole time. Jeff said it was the cutest thing, he just kept questioning him and giving his thoughts on the situation. Here goes...

Jo: What is that?
Dad: The drain where all the nasty water goes.
Jo: Eww Daddy that is gross!
Is that my diareah?
I would NEVER do that!
Dad: You might when you get older and have a house.
Jo: Nope, I'm not doing it.
Dad: What, are you going to make your 5 year old son do it?
Jo: No!
Dad: Your wife?
Jo: No! Well, yeah, I will make her do it.
Dad: I don't think she will want to dig in the poop water either.
Jo: Too bad, she is going to have to.

I know he had a few other funny snipits in the conversation, but I wasn't out there to hear them. This is me retelling what I remember from Jeff last night. We laughed for a good 20 minutes at our son!
I had no idea this happened until I started telling Jeff how funny it was when Jo came running int he house yelling "Daddy said I could help, I can help, I can help! I need to get him a screwdriver from inside the house! I need a screwdriver cause I can help! I think I saw one on the counter! Let me go get it! Mommy, is this a screwdriver? I get to help!" He was so stinking excited that he couldn't slow down!

Our 4th of July!

This year to celebrate the 4th of July we spent most of our afternoon outside with the Carters. The kids played on the Slip-N-Slide and sprinkler while the adults played some washers!
Peyton cracked me up all day! He did the silliest things!

Andi had a little too much power in her slide this time! Too funny!

Cameron made the mistake of starting to push the kids down the slide and got stuck doing it for a while!

Papa Jim, Jordan has a new Texan phrase we need to share with you...While zipping down the slip-n-slide he yells "This is DAARRRN TOOTIN' FUN!"!!! For those of you that don't know the background to why this is so funny to me, I will share the story. I was the first one of the family to be born and raised in Texas, the rest of them are from Iowa. I have always been teased for my Texas twang! One day I told Papa Jim that it was "daarrnn chilly" outside. That is been a phrase the whole family continues to use! I Love that MY son has the same twang I have!

After we played in the sun, we dryed off and grilled some dogs and had a picnic in our backyard. Harley really liked the droppings when we finally let her back outside!

Soni had a great time playing on the slide!

After dinner us big kids played another round of washers. The first game was boys against girls, the next game was Buckleys against Carters. Sam and I had our own little competition going to see which one of us would be able to get the most points. Sam kicked my butt! Not only did she kill me in our competition, she is the reason her team won, she scored nearly all their points! She was quite proud of herself and did a little happy dance in the back yard! Too bad I didn't catch it on video!

I hope everyone had as a great of a day as we did! God Bless America!

A long awaited update in pictures....

We went camping as a family for the first time! It was so much fun! We borrowed my dad's camper and spent the weekend out at Lake Lavon. Cam Cam came by the last day to play washers and get his scrapbook I made him for graduation. We can't wait to go again!

Jordan had a friend stay the night for the first time after we went to the Rough Riders baseball game with his tball team. The kids got to go out on the field before the game and get announced and then run around the bases at the end of the game. When it came time to run the bases, Jordan and Ashton went out and ran from 1st to 2nd, 3rd and then home plate. They were all supposed to be done when they got home, but Jordan didn't realize this and went running on to 1st again. He did this 2 more times until finally the girls standing at home had to block him and lead him up the stairs to me. I was trying to yell his name, Jeff was trying and so was Ashton. As he was running around the second or third time he was hold his chest b/c he was out of breath, but just kept going. What a ham!

We went to the first event at the new cowboys stadium! It was amazing! George Strait, Reba, Blake Shelton and Leann Womack. We had a great time and the stadium is fabulous!

I DON'T!!!!

We were driving to Granny's Thursday afternoon and I was too busy thinking about all the crap I have to get done to realize what song was on the radio until I hear Jordan's comments in the back...

This song was playing and Jo yells, "I don't!!!"
Me: "You don't what?"
Jo: "What he wants to do."
Me: "What does he want to do?"
Jo: "You know!"
Me: "No, honey I wasn't listening"
Jo: "Kiss a gir, I don't want to do that"
Me: "Ohhhh, okay."
Jo: "Except you mommy."
Me: "Why b/c I'm not a girl?"
Jo: "No you are a girl. I don't want to kiss a girl I don't know like he does!"

Too funny!

Jordan's Birthday Party....little late I know!

Jordan's party was nearly a month ago but, here are the pictures! It was Nascar Race Day so we rented out a building here in town and I taped off a race track for the kids to race their big wheels and I borrowed some scooters from coach for the bigger kids! Jordan got some great stuff from some great friends! Thank you to everyone!

I really hate the way the 8's on the car turned out, but other than that I was proud of my first Nascar cake!

Let's go racin'!!!

Jeff wanted to play with the big kids! Too bad he LOST!!

Jo just wanted money to buy his Wii and cars! lol (by the way, he ended up with enough to buy the Wii)

Sarah and Hayley!!!
